"BEO" Heidi Fite

As you may have heard, making Oprah's Favorite Things List is a leap on
to the fast track to fame, fortune, and thousands of Google searches. When
Heidi Fite learned that she was Oprah's Favorite
Blues
Exchange
Organizer, she knew that she
was Goin' To Chicago to meet Ms. Winfrey. There are rumors, however, that
the fame has gone to her head. A small blonde woman in dark glasses has
been seen stalking around Harpo Studios in the West Loop. Is it the infamous
Heidi Fite?
"President" Damon Stone

President Stone has been active in grassroots organization of blues dance in all
corners of this great nation. His message is one of progress, and of hope for a
diverse, yet equal, blues dance community. "We must not be afraid to ask ourselves the
tough questions" he said. "Look within yourself, and ask, what can I do to become a
better blues dancer?" Can we hope for change in blues dancing? Yes we can!
Sara Cherny (with Mrs. O'Leary's Cow)

Recently released on parole, Mrs. O'Leary's Cow may once again be seen moseying around the
streets of her sweet home, Chicago. During her century in the slammer, she logged many hours
with the prison psychiatrist in an attempt to reign in her symptoms of attention deficit and
mania. She is monitored carefully with regard to these issues by her parole officer,
Ms. Sara Cherny. At a recent press conference Ms. Cherny emphasized that the Cow is no
danger to the citizens of the Windy City. Mrs. O'Leary's Cow, however, just winked her
eye and said "there'll be a hot time in the old town tonight."
Dr. Lydia Breen "Landers"

Ann Landers, the "lady with all the answers," has been writing a new column, under the name
of Dr. Lydia Breen, famous Chicago psychiatrist, with whom she often consults in order to
get her material. We have found her column quite useful when needing information on local
blues bands in Chicago, and occasionally on venues as well. This recent question was
particularly relevant:
Dear Dr. Breen,
I am in withdrawal. I keep going to blues events, hoping for live blues music, but alas,
there is none. I do love the fabulous DJs, of course, but I am dying for a live band.
I don't think I can take it much longer. Can you help me find where the dancers are dancing
to live blues music?
Sincerely,
Longing for Live Blues
Dear Longing,
Not to worry. BluesSHOUT '09 will satisfy your addiction. I have recommended to the
BluesSHOUT committee the best bands in Chicago, including Matthew Skoller, Nick Moss and the
Fliptops, Grana Louise, and Joel Paterson. You will not be disappointed.
Happy Dancing,
Dr. Breen
Keir "Daniel Burnham" Briscoe

He brought the Columbian Exposition to Chicago, and then he brought a great
plan for rebuilding the Windy City after the onslaught of the aforementioned
Cow. Now, Keir is bringing bluesSHOUT! to the city of broad shoulders. Like
the order he created from the chaos of the great fire, he will help you
get an order of hotdogs and pizza on your way about town. His talents extend
beyond the highways and byways of the city to the highs and lows of the
bluesSHOUT! sound, making sure everything you hear is clear as a bell. Despite
his penchant for swearing, he can clean it up and still make fantastic quotable
quotes: Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood....bitches.
Bueller? Bueller?

Ferris has a knack for talking people in to things. The bluesSHOUT! Task
Force finds this talent especially useful when it comes to amassing the
large numbers of volunteers necessary to keep the engine running and the
odometer ticking ahead. Live in Chicago and want to be a volunteer? You
can reach Ferris at his friend
Tessa Auza's place
since he is sick in bed today. Save Ferris!
Valerie Brown, Mrs. Brown's daughter
Valerie was so embarrassed by having Herman's Hermits write a song about her and
send it to her mother that she picked up and moved to the South Side of Chicago
to be closer to her good old uncle, Leroy [Brown]. Still not content with a life
filled with writing novels, knitting, hulahooping and dancing, she took on additional
work organizing housing for multiple Lindy exchanges and housing and PR for
bluesSHOUT. If you need a place to stay ask nice … or she'll send you to stay with
uncle Leroy.
Jame "the ant" Corrar

Jame was, in another life, one of those ants that give off pheromones that make all the
other ants organize, fall into line, and do whatever it is that ants do at ant farms.
In this life, she was reincarnated as a dancer who gives off pheromones that make all
the other dancers want to organize, register online, and shake whatever it is that dancers
shake at dance workshops.
Tom "Capone" deGroh
Some of you might have seen him around the country wearing a nice suit and a stoic smile.
Do not be fooled, his corporate persona is just a front for a far more nefarious existence.
Capone started his lifestyle young. He was one of the only pimps to start a 401k program
for his stable of women….at age 8. His hand was firm but their retirement position was even
more solid. However, with the election of Obama, he foresaw his "talent" demanding health
care soon. Rather than give an inch he moved on to the most easily exploitable talent pool
he could think of … Blues DJs.
"Big Red" Ruby Forsmann
Desperate to break from the legacy of her Wrigley family, Big Red Ruby was always trying to
separate herself from Spearmint and Juicy Fruit. Finally free of the family shadow and ready
for her own spotlight, Big Ruby Red spins records for dance events all over the U.S.
When Ruby spins you will feel like you have been pulled from a tight pack, unwrapped
from your foil and set free to freshen the world. So dance a little longer, hold close a
little longer, fishtail a little longer … longer with Big Red.
Kristine "Frank Lloyd Wright" Garby
Kristine "Frank Lloyd Wright" Garby began drafting her first house at the tender age of 3,
using an etch-a-sketch. She used Lincoln Logs to construct early models, but when the wooden
blocks restricted her to geometric designs, she started construction in her sandbox.
It was only after an unpleasant experience with a sprinkler that she began adding water
elements to her creations. Eventually she moved onto harder things such as K'NEX and Marble
Works; each architectural fabrication greater than the one before. Her greatest work
to date…the guy on the bluesSHOUT tshirt!
Connie "Roxie Hart" Ma and Kathleen "Velma Kelly" Chu
Desiring fortune and fame, both Connie and Kathleen have fought their way
to the top of the club, and currently rule as co-presidents of the Chicago
Swing Dance Society. They may look coy and harmless, but their sweet exteriors
hide an ambitious nature that's serious about swing! Not content with their
conquests in East Coast and Lindy Hop, they have moved on to a fresh and
fertile stomping ground: blues dancing. Careful - don't get in the way of
these ladies. After all, you may not live to tell the tale…
Keith "Lucille" Shapiro
B.B. King is probably Chicago's most famous blues man. He has talent, he has wit, and he plays a mean guitar
riff. But where would he be without his beloved guitar, Lucille? Without her, no blues ballad would be heard.
You've all heard of a boy named "Sue"? Well, meet the boy named "Lu"…Lucille, that is. Many will tell you
that Keith is high strung, but strum those strings right and we guarantee you will get a tune you can
drink or dance to.
